What is Machinima?

Machinima describes both a film genre as well as a new way to produce your own videos using video games. The term, a shotgun marriage of the words machine and cinema, describes some of the coolest digital video being created today.

By bringing game footage into your computer, you can add music, change dialogue, add voice-over and more—create highlight reels, show other players cool moves or stunts, even author your own mini-movies.

You will need some digital tools to capture and manipulate the footage, such as a camcorder and computer with some simple editing software. This guide will show you the basic ways to do that, along with instructions to share your creations with your friends.
